Our Wisconsin charter school uses scientific research and project-based learning as the focus of our curriculum. Project learning is based on a constructivist model of learning that engages you in real-world scholarly activity because you get to chose topics that interest you.
Reaching Out to the Community
Posted on December 16, 2014 by Helen B. 11th grade
Community Outreach is in full swing at Wildlands, and once again, Wildlands high school is partnering up with the 3rd graders at the Augusta Elementary School. Every year, Wildlands students are paired up with a 3rd grade buddy to participate in reading times and buddy days, in order to help educate the younger members of our community.
Some of the community events we are starting to plan include theme days, volunteering at the Community Table, and a "Save or Shave the 'Stache" fundraiser. Mr. Tweed has offered to sacrifice his mustache to raise money for the Wildlands activity fund, so we can continue to have amazing opportunities for students to participate in. Whichever side receives the most money within the allotted time wins. For more information regarding the SOSTS fundraiser check out the text below. Some community service projects coming in the future include: Toys for Tots, and completing habitat restoration at the Henke Farm.
We are well into the Younkers Community Days Sale fundraiser. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money for the Chicago/Madison trip this fall. For more information on the Younkers fundraiser, please visit the Wildlands School Facebook page or contact Wildlands directly.
Also, this year we have a new member on our community outreach team, Matthew B. We are excited to keep moving forward in our mission to reach out to our community and involve the students in many new community based opportunities.
