  1. Find the "Now and Then" difference in price of a variety of consumer goods. Choose a topic. Different topics could be food, furnature, buildings/homes, transportation, jobs, clothes, liquids and much more.  You need to compare at least 6 things and calculate the changes in inflation rates. Use the consummer goods rubric to guide your project. 20 points
  2. Make GPS tracks of your family property, farm, or land. This should be the property lines.  You must also make or outline buildings or special features of the property (house, barn, tree that you fell out of and broke your arm), and then download/export the tracks onto a GIS map of the appropriate county. . For extra point, include the history of your property during your time period. If you have property that has been in your family for a long time, you may include that written history and pictures for the presentation. Use the GPS rubric to guide your project. Please ask the teacher if you have additional questions. 10 to 20 points, depending on history, property size and detail
  3. Make a replica of a great invention or machine from that time period. (Example: the telephone, the wheel, a fan, Polaroid camera, the Sears Tower…) It can be made of any material, as long as it has all of the important parts labeled. Use the inventions rubric to guide your project. This does not have to be a working model; however, if you make a working replica of an invention you will earn up to an extra 40 bonus points! (Teachers discretion for points awarded) 30 points
  4. Read a book that was either written in that time period, set in that time period or about that time period.  You can also find a book of poetry from that time period to read as well. Tkhere are two things that you must do for this part. 1.)You will need to present 5 summaries from different chapters of the book, or your impression of 5 different poems that you have read.  If you choose to read a poetry book, you will also need to write a poem of your own to include in your project. Use the Book rubric to guide your project. You will do a 40-60 second presentation about your book at the end of the unit. 2.)You are to make a new book cover that will fit on the book. This rubric will help you in making the book cover.  20 points
