The biggest consideration for meal planning will be the type of camping : the base camp or the river camp. A base camp meal can be more sophisticated and heavier because the food will not have to be carried while canoeing. River camping, on the other hand, requires campers to seriously consider the weight of meals because everything needs to be carried.

Each troop will be issued all things necessary for cooking: camp stove, fuel, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cup and biodegradable soap for washing dishes. The dishes for cooking are lightweight so non-boiled food has a tenancy to burn. Our past experience has shown that pancakes and eggs are very difficult to cook without burning. Things that go into boiling water work much better. Please take this into consideration when planning your meals.

Read at least three of the following for ideas about meals and meal planning and then fill out the meal planning worksheet.

**Pack food items in zip-lock bags which will then be placed in dry bags.***

When finished with meal planning, go to camp set-up.
