Do you have antiques or collectables at home? Take pictures, put them in a powerpoint and give a brief discription of its history: where it was made, what it was used for, what it cost and why you own or collect it? 1 pt for each up to 20 pts For extra bonus points you can use the software VR-Tools to take a rotating 360 degree movie of the object. Describe in pictures and words how one particular activity has changed. Make a PowerPoint, poster or other teacher approved display of “Now and Then”. You can choose anything from farming, to teaching, from communication to transportation, from household chores, to the way we spend leisure time. This powerpoint of "Now and Then" will give you an idea of what it should look like. Here is the changing activity/Now and Then Rubic. 15 points

Find pictures or examples of traditional clothing that was typical of that time period. What women, men, and children of all backgrounds wore. This would include work clothes, dress clothes, daily clothes, night gowns, ect.
10-20 points, depends on the variety shown. Here is the clothing rubric.
If you make an outfit that is a replica of one of your pictures, or bring in an outfit from that time period you get an extra 20 points! (As long as it looks authentic, you can use existing clothes to help you make the replica)
- Cook a dish or provide a part of a meal that was typical of that time period. All of the food will be presented on the same day so we can have a big feast! 25 points – but we’ll take off points if you put something funny in the teacher’s portion!
- Create a list, timeline, or poster of Popular Cultural Icons and give examples of their work. (Movie stars/Musicians/Authors/Inventors/Athletes) Here is the Cultural Icons Rubric.

- Find out what people used to do for fun or leisure, and present that to the class. It can be a game, a popular dance from that time period, music that they listened to, or movies that they watched. It must be authentic to that time period, not a “remake” of what might have happened in that time period – example showing a movie from “today.” Here is the Leisure Rubric.

- On a map of the United States indicate where different populations were living, indicate dominate religions, or where people were migrating from. 20 points
- Find popular musicians or musical groups and their songs. Include historical aspect of what influenced the person or group. Also where they were from and how the music influenced Americans.

- Calculate the changes in population density in a particular area/state from your time period to what the population of that area is today. Include raw data and the percent change. 15 points
- Make a list of the great scientists of the time and what their contributions to science were. Try to include a picture of each scientist and describe in detail how their contribution has changed the lives of Americans. Bonus points awarded if you can find female or minority scientists.Here is the Scientists Rubric.

- Write a three to five minute skit that includes each member of your group. Your skit will be titled “A Day in the Life of ___________.” You will write a skit that is historically accurate of the time period and what the person you have chosen to write the skit about would have done on a typical day. It may be easier to video tape the skit and produce an Imovie-DVD. Prop use is encouraged! Here is the skit rubric. 20 points
- Describe and show the stock market and how it effected your time period. Describe how it has changed from today. 15 points
- Find cultural traditions or even family traditions that were celebrated or started from that time period. A list or an example will do.10 points
- "Other" is a self-determined project. You may do several of these projects for points.One example could be making snowshoes.We have the materials for making snowshoes but if you wish to keep them- you must pass for the materials. See teacher for details. You could also construct a lesson about an older technolgy of your time period.An example of one such technology would be a water mill. The key to "Other" is the limit of your imagination.
