Pack your bags, leave the modern-day things you know behind, and be prepared to travel through time! You will spend the next couple of weeks researching a particular time period in American History.  You will discover what it was like to live during that time, what major events happened, how this time period changed the United States, and get a chance to recreate items from that particular time period.

Overall Task:
Your group of three is responsible for presenting a variety of information in a variety of different ways.  Some of the assignments will be required of each person,some will be required of each group and some of them will be optional.  You and your partners will research, write, draw, cook, map, document, and present on your assigned era in American History.

How the grading will work:
As a group you need to earn 360 points to get an A for the project.  If that is divided equally between 3 people, that means that each person will need to attempt at least 120 points worth of projects for an A. 

You can attempt/earn points by doing an entire portion of the project on your own or working as a group. If you do a project by yourself, for example, creating the timeline of Politicians or Government Leaders, you can earn up to 20 points. (Everyone will need to read a book, so that is 20 points for each person already.)

You can also earn points by splitting up the work and determining how many points each person should receive.  Example, PowerPoint of the wars, 35 points; Bob did most of the work – 22 points, Susie helped some – 10 points, and Jim pretty much sat on his gluteus maximus and looked up “how to braid hair” on the internet – 3 points.  The group has attempted 35 points, but each person has earned their own “weight” on the project.

All members of the group need to negotiate the points, and everyone needs to sign off on the points given if they are divided up.  It is perfectly ok to split the points right down the middle or into three if everyone has worked very hard together and everyone agrees that everyone worked equally as hard on the project.

It is also ok if you didn’t help on a portion of a particular project because it will not count against you, it just doesn’t count towards your 120 total points.

*Groups that work together and split up work on a specific topic recieve teamwork bonus points. In addition, the more extra topics the teams coveres, the more bonus points you may recieve.
