Search and Prepare
In this stage of a project you are just beginning your research. Follow these steps to help you get and stay organized.
- Question or Idea
- What do you want to find out?
- What do you know about this topic or subject?
- What is the general subject area you should be searching in for more information?
- Where is this information found?
- What do you need to know in order to understand the question or subject in more detail?
- Find 10 to 12 specific vocabulary terms, phrases, or words that you will need to understand in order to better understand your topic.
- Develop an “Inspiration” map or outline that will provide your project with some structure to follow.
- Conduct Background Research
- Read
- Surf
- Talk, make phone calls
- Save information
- Create a notebook
- Organize a 3 ring binder
- Take notes
- Keep good records
- Develop a list of sources you have found to support your project.
- 3 = D list
- 5 = C list
- 7 = B list
- 9 = A list
- If you are now serious about conducting this project you need to develop a full proposal in Project Foundry.
Remember to keep track of your projects in Project Foundry.
