Search and Prepare
In this stage of a project you are just beginning your research. Follow these steps to help you get and stay organized.

  1. Question or Idea
    1. What do you want to find out?
    2. What do you know about this topic or subject?
      • List
    3. What is the general subject area you should be searching in for more information?
      • Where is this information found?
    4. What do you need to know in order to understand the question or subject in more detail?
    5. Find 10 to 12 specific vocabulary terms, phrases, or words that you will need to understand in order to better understand your topic.
    6. Develop an “Inspiration” map or outline that will provide your project with some structure to follow.

  2. Conduct Background Research
    1. Read
    2. Surf
    3. Talk, make phone calls
    4. Save information
    5. Create a notebook
    6. Organize a 3 ring binder
    7. Take notes
    8. Keep good records

  3. Develop a list of sources you have found to support your project.
    1. 3 = D list
    2. 5 = C list
    3. 7 = B list
    4. 9 = A list

  4. If you are now serious about conducting this project you need to develop a full proposal in Project Foundry.

Remember to keep track of your projects in Project Foundry.
