Reading & Literature (35% of your overall grade)

Independent Choice Reading: Students will choose books (and we mean books, not magazines) that interest them, read them, and then complete a written or oral book evaluation. Keep track of the books and page numbers you have read, they will help determine your English grade. After each report the number of pages you read will be signed off by a teacher and should be put as an Independent Reading Project into Project Foundry. The reading portion of your grade is worth 1,000 points each semester (500 points each quarter). For every page you read, you will earn a point. Thus, if you read 750 pages in a semester, you have earned 750 points out of 1,000 possible, and your reading grade is 75%, or a C.

HINT: If you read 15 pages every school day, you will exceed 1,000 pages.
